power consumption of a fuel gauge.
Hi All,
Thinking of installing an electric fuel gauge in my cart. There is one on sale with a sending unit at the local Princess Auto for about $25 bucks. The simplest way to wire it up would be to power it when the key is on (my lights work this way). However, how long would it take for the gauge to kill the battery if the key is left on? Would it go overnight? Two hours? Less? If it goes for several hours, I'm not worried, but if it kills the battery in less time then I might have to consider wiring it differently. |

Re: power consumption of a fuel gauge.
I've left my key on overnight with the volt meter powered up and it started fine the next day

I would guess the current draw would be very minimal. I have left my key on with radio playing all night at low volume and cart started right up after 16 hours. I did put it on a battery tender the following night just for piece of mind.

Well, sounds like I will give it a try in a few days when I buy the parts. Thanks for the responses guys.
Now, where to mount this thing on my G14 dash... |
