Default Rebuit G14 timing issue

I rebuilt my G14 top end and it runs like crap. Won't idle or run at low RPM. I've double checked all carb and air leak issues. Could I be a tooth or two off on the timing? Engines out of the cart again so thanks in advance before I pull the side cover off.

After reading your other post and this one, it sure sounds like checking your valve timing would be a good thing to do at this point!! Let us know what you find. - RAY

Well, I pulled the side cover off and checked the gears and timing marks. Everything looks spot on.

The oil had quite a bit of gas in it and the engine had only been test run for no more than 10 minutes total. Guess that explains the no low RPM. Plug was black also.

Any ideas?

I dropped the clutch and broke of a part of one of the fingers. Can that be welded?

Could be pulling gas from fuel pump (through pulse hose) if diaphragm in pump has a hole. Also double check float level and make sure needle and seat are sealing well. Good luck - RAY

Thanks a buch Ray for taking some time out of your day to reply. Its going be a few days before I get it back together and in the cart. Tracked down an aluminium welder today to fix the clutch finger I broke off. Once that's done I'll work on carb and fuel pump issues and let you know
