Default Replacing Batteries One or Two at a Time...

I know ahead of time that the answer to this question is going to be "no, you should replace all six of them at once..."

BUT, supposing I'm not wealthy and don't have the cash right now to replace all of my batteries at once, how bad/stupid would I be to replace them a couple at a time?

Obviously the most logical thing to do is save up for a few months and get them all at once, but right now my cart can play about 9 holes before limping home from the course. Would it be a terrible thing to replace the two worst batteries now, then the next two in a month, then the last two a month after that? I obviously don't want to buy two batteries and RUIN them before getting the next two (and the next two).

Thanks!

G.--

If you only replace 1 or 2 at a time they are going to get pulled down to the voltage of the remaining 4 or 5 bad ones. Its not a good idea it will shorten the life of the new ones and cost you way more in the long run when they only last about a year.

Take the money for 2 batteries and put it in a cookie jar. Keep adding to it until you have enough for a full set

Oh.....and you must buy only cookies that contain chocolate. Then, take those cookies out, and send them to me. I'll PM you my address. Make sure you have them wrapped well so they don't dry out, and pack them so they don't break.

Hey.....I'm just trying to help you out with the cookie jar thing!!

And don't use the wife's cookie jar. Get your own and hide it.

@ griffey

You might try charging the living daylights out of you current battery pack to get a little more oomph out of them while you're tossing money into the Mason Jar for a new set.

Initiate charge cycles on the batteries without discharging them, or after they've only been discharged a little.

Give them a charge cycle immediately before heading out to the course. You'll have to play it be ear, but if you charge the night before, it should take less than an hour for the charger to shut off automatically when you plug it in the next day.

I managed to up the max SoC a set of batteries would charge to by about 10% by doing it. Who knows? You might get lucky also.

For future reference: Clean & water your new batteries monthly and put a $10 bill in the Mason Jar ever time you service them.
That way you'll have the money, or close to it, for replacements, when the new set need to be replaced.
