Default Things to look for in a used 97 club car

I am thinking about not rebuilding the engine in my 88 ez and instead getting a four stroke. I am going to look at a 97 Club Car. Is there anything in particular I should look for on this car? Any reasons to avoid this model (DS?) or year? Also, what is a good ballpark price for a non rental unit in good shape? Thanks in advance for any input.

I always look at the clutch faces to check for excessive wear. Look for cracks in the frame etc. You can normally tell a cart that the kids have beat to hello from the one that grandpa kept in the garage since new. 97 was a good year. Anything 92 up is a great cart in my opinion. I like the older carts but the 290 and 350 motors have alot more power and are quieter. I would say $1200-1500 is the going rate around here for a stock non lifted 2 seat 97 club car in pretty good shape. I hope this helps. You would be very happy with the CC vs your 2 stroker ezgo in my opinion. I have had several of both.

Thanks for the input. I went and looked at it, and though it is a bit more than the price you quote I think I am going to take it. I need to keep in mind that I am buying from a local dealer and that I am likely paying them to take my old 3 wheeler with a blown motor off my hands... Clutches felt smooth, frame and chassis looked good, started and ran in the cold and snow. At least now I will be able to just go golf in the summer and not worry about building an engine in that greasebox 88! Now for the extras...
I can't help but notice there is a ton of crap available for the 97 that i don't need which I shall in all likelyhood start to buy before I even get it home!

It starts kind of like this.
2 rounds golf= stereo head
1 round golf = speakers

And the clubs are in the corner full of cob webs.

Thats not very likely DOOmsman. The cart (work and repairs and modifications notwithstanding) will reside at the golf course, soo...

I will be in for 1550 with a clean stocker, windshield, and pimp wheel covers.. Thats with my trade, which I know is worth zero to every dealer I talked to. I also get a year warrenty, which is worth a lot to me after the ezgo went only one season.
