Hot resistor coil
I just bought a 91 EZ-Go marathon 36 v. electric cart. I am overall pleased with it but am concerned about how hot the resistor coil gets. It smells hot and is too hot to touch even after driving a short distance. Is this normal? What should I be looking for?

Re: Hot resistor coil
the resistors burn off voltage they are doing their job at slow speeds at wide open throttle they are out of the system and should cool back down might want to check all the connections usally a hot smell is a wire loose or dirty

Re: Hot resistor coil
If the cart was not used for some time, (before you bought it) Dust on the resistor coils will stink more than normal. I'm not saying ignore the smell, but it may go away as the dirt burns off. If it stinks like a furnace, or electric heater, it's probably dirt on the coils.
Check all the connections also. |
