Heavy duty springs
I installed a lift kit along with heavy duty springs on a 2006 presedent, now the ride in very harsh. Will removing the shocks help? If not, any suggestions other than original springs.
Thanks, Herbie |

Re: Heavy duty springs
Heavy duty springs are very stiff and make the ride really rough. One option is to add weight. 3-400 extra pounds smooths them out. IMO the only real reason to have HD springs is if you carry a lot of heavy cargo all the time.
Other option is to ditch the HD springs and get Dual Action Springs. They ride nearly as smooth as stock, but have an over-load section that stiffens them up for when you have extra people or cargo on board. |

Re: Heavy duty springs
I bought some for my 05'. When I installed them I removed the bottom spring. I'm about to remove one more because it's still too stiff.

Re: Heavy duty springs
I had a ds that I put a flatbed on with heavy duty springs. Rough ride. Now I have a precedent. When I built the flatbed and lifted it I kept OEM springs. Love it. I installed a trailer hitch too. OEM springs handle everything I throw at it.

Re: Heavy duty springs
HD springs are definitely stiff. You might try lowering your tire pressure It will help out some.

Re: Heavy duty springs
I threw some on my DS, rides like a wagon on logs. Going to remove 2 on the springs this weekend. Rides like a fixed frame mower

Re: Heavy duty springs
Put your old single leaf springs back on.
Unless you're toting elephants, polar bears or orcas. |
