93 is it worth fixing?
Picked up for the cost of a new tire. Very obvious batteries are shot, and it came with no charger. I just want to know if there is any way to tell if it is going to work before I buy 6 batteries and a charger.
You all got my 89 gas running and runs at 22mph, so am wondering if I use for parts or fix |

Re: 93 is it worth fixing?
You have to look at the components closely and see if they are in working order. There is a way to test the motor...It takes some experience to know what is needed? We need a lot more information to make a determination. It also depends on your resources. If you are going to have to pay full retail for everything a free cart might need it might not sell for more than the cost of it's parts right now in this deflated economy. If you can sell it for a few hundred bucks as a fixer then you are money and time ahead.......

Re: 93 is it worth fixing?
I think that is what I need to know, is how to check the motor. It is old, yet no rust, frame and all look real good. If motor doesnt work, I would strip it and use for part. Spending 400 pluse for cheap batteries and even more for a charger would be worth it if indeed it ran. Cables look good, actually with itz age, all looks good, so if motor ran I would indeed fix it up
Thanks |

Re: 93 is it worth fixing?
The motor is probably the least of your worries, there are just so many other parts involved in an electric cart to concern yourself with. Motor could be great, but if the rest of the parts are shot you could be in for a bit of work... Ask me how I know... :)
At least you could have a parts cart though if things were bad. |

Who was it that said " There is no stupid question?" Okay the motor will run thanks to some fantastic help here. I never owned an electric cart ( yes and I am blonde ), yet I can get a Hertner 36v Industrial Forklift charger free for the taking. I think okay 36v is 36v...is my thinking wrong on this?

Re: 93 is it worth fixing?
NOpe you are thinking okay......Make sure the charger is a complete unit and works independently of an OBC (on board computer in the forklift?) I only suggest this because some of the later Club Car carts had obc and their chargers only worked for them.......I digress. The charger is definitely worth trying! Grab it! You will have to change the end.

Free is free the way I look at it. If it doesn't work for your cart, it'll work for someone else somewhere, and they'll pay good money which you can then use on a cart charger.

Jack the back of cart up and put a set of jumper's off another cart and see if it runs.
