Default Temp Sensor........

I've kinda screwed up on something and I need an opinion on how to sove the problem. I bought a Trail Tech speedo for my cart. It was kind of a last minute decision. One feature of the unit is that it is set up to measure motor temp. The kit is really for an ATV and the temp sensor is a round copper ring that is designed to go under a spark plug. If I had known what I was going to do I would have had Robby weld a stud on the motor housing when he was building the motor and just bolted it on. Problem is, I didn't. So now what? Would it work to JB Weld or epoxy it to the motor housing if I scraped off some paint so the sensor would sit right against the motor housing? Other suggestions?

Why not put it under the plug as designed?

Not familiar with JB weld but at what temp does it melt? What if you put it on one of the terminal connections?

I was thinking terminal connection too, but that might send a false signal to the unit or fry it if it had voltage?

How can you not be familiar with JB weld? It's like the shop equivalent of duct tape. :)

I doubt JB weld would be conductive, would just isolate the sensor. I think you are on the right track with brazing a stud to the housing. Maybe just take the cover off and have it done? Not a sparky guy, but that makes sense to me.

Not sure about that one. I'd vote for somewhere else just to be safe or even not having the temp sensor at all. I'd really like to use it just so I could monitor what is going on but if not, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Was also wondering if I could just solder the copper sensor ring to the housing?
