Default Stereo Install

Finally got the stereo installed last Thursday. Here are a few pics I took when I was doing it. Couldn't find anything about how to put it in there other than just where it went so cut a piece of plywood and mounted it in there to make sure it didn't move around any before I installed the sleeve for the radio. Mounted the antenna on the side of the cowl too. Really hated the wood grain dash and steering wheel cover that came on it so took care of that too. Took some steel wool to it and cleaned it up quite a bit after these pics. All in time to take it to the White Sox game Thursday and then camping for the weekend. Got the ok from my wife to add a sub and amp now. Also need to add a state of charge meter and a new key plate. Afraid of diving into that because of all the super glue the last owner used around there to hold the key plate for some strange reason. I am really ready for this thing to be done though.

Before pic

In progress

Got a few more pics today. Excuse all the pollen. Does no good to clean it right now because in two hours it's coated again.

Great job!

I wonder if this hole explains the super-glued ignition panel?

Maybe. Guessing they drilled it like that for the light switch. There was super glue dripped down in there as well. Ha Ha. Still don't see why they would have needed it.

I think it was at least a size 12 shoe that went through!

Think you're right. If you look at the pic when it was wood grain dash you can look above the key switch and tell the last owner super glued the hell out of the top of it for some reason.
