The 1/2 watt resistor will work fine, here is a post with links to order the resistors online:

You should also add another wire to the top of the VGlide and make it a 3-wire Multi-Step Potentiometer, it will give You about 60% more resolution than using it as a 2-wire throttle.

i read through your links, thank you..

next questions, how where do i add the 3rd wire to make a a 3 wire throttle.

other question is,, my cart is 36v but im in the process to converting to 48v, are these resistor values correct for 36v motor on 48v

1st step- 910 ohms
2nd step- 620 ohms
3rd step- 750 ohms
4th step- 820 ohms
5th step- 1100 ohms

reading this thread says otherwise..

There have been 3 different sets of resistor values for the Multi-Step potentiometers (aka: VGlide) throughout the different model years and voltages.

Please note they all have 6 resistors, not 5.

The resistor values used for the 3-wire 48v version are (starting from the bottom):
910Ω
750Ω
910Ω
1000Ω
1000Ω
1000Ω
This post talks about converting the 2-wire to 3-wire and where to place the additional wire:

The important part is that when used as a 2-wire rheostat 0-5kΩ or 5k-0Ω, You only have 6 distinctive steps (resolution) from pedal UP to pedal Down.

When You add the 3rd wire, the Controller uses it as a Voltage Divider and You get intermediate steps when the wiper arm bridges 2 pads and gives you 10 distinctive steps which means a 60% increase in resolution.

are 1/8 or 1/10 watt resistors acceptable size? and what size studs are those for the wires in the vglide? 3/8 or 5/16?

I would not go any smaller than 1/4 watt, the 1/8 watt form factor resistor is very small and fragile to be crimped and attached to the back of the VGlide.

Are the studs on the v-glide 5/16 or 3/8"?

They are supposed to be 1/4-20.

Thanks, was wondering for the ring lug size. It looked like 1/4" in pictures but don't have it close to check, I was assuming they were larger for some reason.

The lugs on the high current setup are large but the stud is just 1/4".

Make sure you get non-insulated ring terminals as they are easier to stack on top of each other.
