Can solenoid studs be replaced?
Okay, so I realized why my undersea tray would never sit flat on the passenger side. The short cable going from the main post on the solenoid to B+ on the controller was at an angle to where it was pushing up on it. So.....
I flipped the Run/Tow switch to Tow and got to work. I undid the cable from controller and angled it down and tightened it up. Then I moved onto the solenoid. I started undoing the nut and it felt a little tight. I have never felt it like that before. Well I went to tighten it back down and it would no longer get tight. So I took it all the way off only to find out, the damm thing is stripped smooth. So I need a new stud on that side. I was gonna call Scotty, but before I bug him about this, I figures I would post it up on the board for all of you to look at! Will post pictures in a minute. Thanks, Colton |

Yours looks like an upgraded one, but here are photos of my stock one. |

Re: Can solenoid studs be replaced?
It is an upgraded HD. I tried running a 5/16 die to it but did nothing. I think I am going to remove it and see if I can run a smaller die over it. You know how hard it is to do that with it still bolted down

Re: Can solenoid studs be replaced?
Why not try drilling out a brass nut to use as a spacer for on top of the terminal, then use the threads near the top for tightening. Watch your tightening torque as those threads near the top will be slightly imperfect. Try to keep at least 1 thread showing at the top. This may be good for a long time or good enough to get you going for a short time, your call. Good luck - RAY

Re: Can solenoid studs be replaced?
Maybe trim the stud off at the damaged area of the threads, You can get nuts that are 1/2 the width of the one you have on your solenoid. You may still have enough stud there for your base nut, cable end and the top nut

Re: Can solenoid studs be replaced?
Idk, I am not a fan of rigging things but I just may have to. If Scotty doesn't post today I'll give him a call tomorrow about it or possibly just buying a whole new one. I am very picky and OCD.

Re: Can solenoid studs be replaced?
Another option would be an "all thread connector", screw it on to your existing stud then you could either directly bolt your cble into the other end of the thread connector or insert a brass stud into the connector.
I don't know if they make brass "all thread connectors" or if a steel one would work |

Re: Can solenoid studs be replaced?
One final thought would be to remove the nut which holds the stud in place, and place your lug between the two washers visible in your first photo, then replace the nut. I've had to do something similar in other applications.
