Default Lights, stereo, dome light, reverse lights?

My 1990 ez go Marathon has lights. The front end was damaged - the plastic nose is cracked off and gone. I was thinking I would make a diamond plate cap and add some LED cube off-road type lights. CAN I use the same wires? Are they 12 v?

Is there as sticky on how to add 12v accessories? I want to add a stereo, a dome light, and if the reverse horn is 12v I wanted to tap that to go to a relay to switch on reverse lights.

You can add lights and accessories using a 12V reducer from http://www.cartsunlimited.net/12v-reducers.html

Does the voltage reducer use power while the accessories are off?

Why not just wire it to the batteries?

I'll let ScottyB chime in but I don't think it drains the batteries much while it's off. Hooking accessories up to two batteries will work just fine but it will drain those two batts more than the others and cause an imbalance in your pack. The consensus from the experts here is that over time it will shorten the life of your pack.

Read the stickies, use the search function on here and spend some time on http://www.cartsunlimited.net/. You can learn a lot

I installed one of Scottyb's 12v reducers on my 94 Medalist and wired to the key switch (per his instructions) so it is off when the key switch is off.
Dixie is correct about wiring the accessories directly to the battery pack, while it will work it is NOT recommended.
Tis better to by a 12v reducer once than buy batteries over and over.

What about adding an ATV winch to get out of muddy spots in the forest trails/etc and to load the cart in my truck. The one I was looking at says it's 105 amps and those converters are 20 or 30 amps.

I'm pretty sure you are going to have to put an auxiliary battery in the cart for a winch.

Yep

Finally, I also found this thread. Come along sounds better then loosing the storage space in the rear.
