Hot Rod Build
Hey guys ....been a while still going on the hot rod/golf buggy ( more pics to upload soon) ...as part of my project I removed the lever/cable assembey that is connected to a shaft into the gearbox/diff ...does any body know what that does and can it be disconnected....???

Sounds like you are referring to the governor/speed limiter assembly....I have a special place for those thing, IN THE GARBAGE CAN

Geoff, is that govenor limiter easly removed if so is there a exploded view of the gearbox I can get my hands on ... if not can I do something to overide it

Any special gear box diagram you want, there is alot of them here at BGW, when you start a thread it helps to start off with the make of your cart and year

Its a very straightforward procedure to remove the differential governor, but its time consuming and usually not worth the effort.
It requires splitting the cases and removing the steel gear. Youre better off just custting the shaft off and forgetting it was even in there. -Geoff |

I did what Jeff is suggesting and cut the governor shaft off. I actually did it for clearance. I had to mount the engine according to the belt length. I bought the longest one I could find but the engine still sits very close to the transaxle. The governor shaft would have been in the way if I hadn't trimmed it off.

So basically what your saying is all you have to do is unhook the throttle cable and just dont use it. You dont necessarily have to cut it off do you? I notice its spring loaded so would i need to do anything other than disconnect the cable from it?
