Re: 86 ez go needs new batteries
What I have found is the old resistor carts are cheap. And everybody gets them because they are cheap. There are NO performance parts available for these carts.
With that said, if you want to rip out all the electrics and start over because you like the body style, then go for it. Just know it will cost $$$$$. There is no cheap way to make an old resistor cart any faster than what it is. Except for bigger tires, and then you will lose some torque. If you want a speeder cart, sell your cart and save up for a newer style that has a system that can be upgraded. How do I know this? I have 2 resistor carts and have learned the hard way. |

Re: 86 ez go needs new batteries
First off, SEARCH function is great and will really help you out on here.
Second, I totally agree with the above post. My first cart was an 88 and after a year and a half or messin around and trying to find parts and such for such an old model, I hung it up and bought a newer cart.....just now new enough because I got slapped with a DCS ride and now I'm paying to get that beotch whipped into shape. If you want performance, I'd look into something newer and read as much as you can before you go out and spend anymore $$ Just my .02, Good Luck Kev |

Re: 86 ez go needs new batteries
Not sure either of us understand that question..... your cart has a series of resistors which regulate speed ~ the top speed has no resistor so essentially that is as fast as it is going to go ...... Hope that helps. If not feel free to post twice this year

Re: 86 ez go needs new batteries
At first I wanted the newer electronics, but after the mud riding this weekend I kinda like the old school stuff. yet I'm the type person that will make something work if I can find the person that can tell me how to do it! LoL
More volts + less windings= speed/less run time. Just got to decide what you want. |
