Dead cart, possible dead Solenoid
Newbie:
2004 Club Cart ds just died. Yesterday, I replaced the battery cables from 2.0 to 4.0. Well not all the cables. The two cables going to the controller and soleniod are still 2.0. When i finished i rolled the cart out of the garage, reverse horn buzzed, put the f/r switch in forward and started moving, stopped to go into reverse and the cart died. after several hour later and reading alot threads I'm lost. checked the batteries good 8.3 volts per batt. 51.0 over all. checked key switch 50.1 volts checked the power to the Solenoid large post 50.1 volts both post checked the power to the Solenoid small post .31 volts checked all wiring appears to be good checked fuses good no wiring seems to be bad i tried to jump the Solenoid with a 2.0 gauge wire nothing. f/r switch looks good now i'm lost for thought my feeling is the Solenoid is bad PLEASE HELP Thanks in advance. |

Re: Dead cart, possible dead Solenoid
there is 50v across the sol with the key off? not good. if you jumped from large post to large post on the sol and nothing happened it sounds like the prob is beyond the sol.recheck all your wiring. why the heck do you have 50v at the key?

Re: Dead cart, possible dead Solenoid
Is there a chance that you "spun" one of your motor lugs when changing the cables?
When you step on the pedal with key on, does the solenoic "click"? |

In the past, I have seen that if a battery terminal connection is not tight, it will show full pack voltage, but, it will break the minute you put a load on it! (pressing the go pedal) thus, a "no go" situation like you have! Just for ****s & giggles... loosen, then retighten all of your battery terminal connections! It couldn't hurt! |

Re: Dead cart, possible dead Solenoid
Well... that was my only suggestion, since you've only replaced the cables between the batteries!
Maybe someone else will chime in and help... but it may not be tonight, so have a seat, grab an adult beverage, and chill for the evening! |
