Default DS 48 volt or 36?

I purchased a project cart 1998 ds it had 48 volt batteries but the motor says 36 volt how can I go about finding out if the cart was originally 36 or 48?

Serial number would help. If it has a stock controller it would be 48v, resistor coils would be 36v.

Not uncommon to find on the older DSs 48v being supplied to the original 36v motor. Made for a great upgrade in speed and torque.

Sounds like a 36v stock series cart converted to 48v running on the stock motor. How fast is it? 14 mph is stock, with those batteries it should be around 19-20mph.
