Re: 1988 Columbia Car Par questions
Drove golf cart again today. It will ride around fine at with the pedal lightly pressed. Anything over that and it just sputters. Seems like it just doesn't get enough fuel for the air that goes in.
I ordered a ezgo carb from ebay and new reed leaf. Maybe should add an electric fuel pump too?? |

Re: 1988 Columbia Car Par questions
Some people swear against electric pumps. I swear by them and convert every machine I have to electric.
Between the new carb and the pump my money is that thing starts zinging all over the place. |

Re: 1988 Columbia Car Par questions
Next question is how have people adapted the ezgo carb to the air cleaner?

Re: 1988 Columbia Car Par questions
On one of my '85s I was able to detach the clean air manifold from the old carb and attach it to the EZGo one no problem. My other '85 did have a manifold so I crafted one from some PVC fittings that I got from Home Depot.

Re: 1988 Columbia Car Par questions
I think the 88's all used electrionic ignition modules which dont use condensors. There is chance someone converted it to points though and those need condensors

Re: 1988 Columbia Car Par questions
test the spark with a neon light spark tester. 1# Will it show symptoms while you lift one wheel? . Reed valves hold the intake air and fuel mix when the cylinder in the down stroke pushes the exhaust out and fresh fuel at the same time. hence 2 stokes run better at higher rpm....2# What does the plug look like when you take it out is it dry and chalky? It would be a leakage of fuel. 3# Can you tune the carb?

I actually converted my 85s to HEI ignitions and the results are tremendous. I have sticky on top of the forum if you want to check it out. |
