Admiral A2 is a good torque upgrade, for the money you can't beat it. A4 costs more but gives nearly 50% more torque with the T map and with 18-20" tires only and the S map high 20 mph.
FSIP speed motor is priced in between and gave my Precedent 27-32 mph on stock tires, depending upon rpm limit set and manufacture says okay with bigger tires. |

Get ahold of Chuck at EMP and have him rebuild yours to whatever specs You want - lower cost than replacement and FAR better performance than anything off-the-shelf, regardless of who makes it, plus he will provide several different maps for You to play with to dial in the exact balance of Torque and Speed You want.
He did a GE rebuild for us this summer that's running 38mph on 20" tires with an AllTrax 48400 controller, I'd almost hate to see what that thing would do with another 100A, LOL. All in all, the total cost was less than a MOT-A2 but the wait time might not work for you (it was about a 9-day total turnaround, from shipping the old to getting it back in our hands) |

Re: What is best motor upgrade iq 48v cc
emp-inc.biz ... 25mph with a MOT-A2 is easy on 23's, even with the little 300A/48v XCT Controller ... Nothing wrong with the "off-the-shelf" stuff, we use them occasionally ourselves - it's just "Apples and Oranges". Chuck will literally pull the Topographic Maps of the area where You primarily drive the cart and design the motor around said inclines, etc as well as average load, tire size, range requirements, etc so You have a Motor that was specifically tailored and engineered to your needs and desires and will get You the most "Bang" for Your "Buck" (which again, is less money than buying a motor just like hundreds of others on warehouse shelves). Either way, a quality, BUILT cart is a blast, it's just a matter of how particular You want to be with your $$$ and whether it matters to get the most You can out of it - that matters to some people.

While that does sound as exciting as a downhill sled race. It doesn't sound entirely sane.
What safety improvements do you make or suggest for your customers driving at nearly 40 mph in a golf cart? Could not the biggest bang for their buck be literally into a cross traffic car or bicyclist or even a rollover at that speed? |

Watch out BCM, been going through years of posts and those that offered good advice (but on outside vendors) soon disappeared.
Thinking there is a mighty fine line when it comes to helping DIY'ers, and the question of who pays the bills around here must come up often. |

On the contrary, I send people to EMP and PQ all the time when an off the shelf motor won't do. Like for people with the biggest tires, The biggest hills, and the biggest friends riding on the back. Or for people that want to go 30-40 mph. I can't get enough liability insurance to set a cart up like that.

Re: What is best motor upgrade iq 48v cc
Scotty knows I was not trying to step on Vendors toes, and he *does* bring up a good point *as all our heads rattle at exactly 19.4mph as dictated, LOL* ... I wasn't trying to extol the virtues of the actual cart that I referenced, but yes - Chuck or the Steen Boys can and will build to fit your needs and budget. Torque, Range, Speed - it's all a very delicate equasion when dealing with weight, infrastructure, and the inherent limitations of a 48V FLA battery system (which for this second, is the primary available option).
That said, anything over 20mph of course is an easy candidate for at *very least* seat belts, an improved suspension (and generally NOT a lifted one) and well-maintained and adjusted brakes, if not a complete "redo" of the braking system. ROPS would help too, if there was an actual system out there in production for "Go" and not just "Show" LOL - but we'll ALL leave that to someone else to play with. Hopefully i didn't ruffle any feathers, never was my intent :) |

Re: What is best motor upgrade iq 48v cc
I looked at their site and read their articles from the magazine they referenced. Looks like a good solid company and looking at the spec line, they seemed to stay in the mid-20's with a couple in the upper, so I did not see anything that would make me scream danger - but I guess if they can customize anything you want, then that could be a horse of a completely different color (and time index! )
