Re: Driving and heard a pop, then
It doesn't work. Is that also a sign of potential problems?

Re: Driving and heard a pop, then
Continuity to the case means the armature or brushes are damaged and shorted to the motor case.
Just looking at the picture, I’d say that motor is toast. Two of the armature windings are melted and have been thrown out. It’s possible one of those hit the field magnets while it was running and that’s pretty much the end of the motor. That could be why it shows continuity from the A posts to the motor case. Often when a motor fails it also takes out the controller. There may be a way to test it but I don’t know without putting another motor in and see what it does. |

Re: Driving and heard a pop, then
So buy a new motor then see if it works? Is there a danger of burning up the new motor? Have any recommendations on where to get the best motor for the lowest cost?

Re: Driving and heard a pop, then
Does anyone think that something could have taken the motor out? Like a bad controller or speed sensor?

Re: Driving and heard a pop, then
That type of failure is most likely an internal problem in the motor. Could have been several things, but probably not caused by anything related to the controller.
A bad speed sensor could not cause that. I would think about upgrading the motor and controller. You said its an LSV so you drive it on the street, right? How fast was the cart in its current configuration? 19-20mph? An upgraded controller and motor could easily get you 25 and have quicker acceleration and be quicker climbing hills. The right combo might get you closer to 30 if you have larger than stock tires. I dunno how much a replacement stock controller is, but you can call David Hicks and talk with him about all of your options for replacement parts, or upgrades. He's also the guy to know how to go about testing your current controller to determine if you'll need to replace that as well. Quote:

Re: Driving and heard a pop, then
So I received my new motor from Scotty B and installed it. I hea rthe solenoid click and all I get is thump thump noise and it doesn't move. I have a new mcor but I bought the wrong one, so I will get one, but not sure this is the problem. In reverse it barely moved.

Re: Driving and heard a pop, then
What is happening buddy? Give me a quick update on what you have currently (Click, no click, no power, etc.) and I will try to help you out. Just a 10000 foot overview is all I need and I should be able to run from their.
And I had a good friend years ago on GetSwole that used that same "In a van down by the river".... |

Re: Driving and heard a pop, then
I replaced the motor and hooked everything back up. All I get when I push the pedal is a thumping noise and then nothing. Like its trying to move but it doesn't. The voltage drops 6 volts and I hear the solenoid click, but nothing moves. I guess I'll take the cover off the computer and look in there.
