Question Club car seems a little loud or rough

Got a gas 1993 club car DS. Had trouble getting started and running without the choke. Found a loose starter belt tighten that up changed fuel pump and filters and fuel lines plugs and finally changed to new carb. Runs good now. Seems a little slow but that might be an over zealous govenor. With all that said, when runs it seems louder than some of the other club cars I’ve seen. Almost sounds like a truck motor and not that gentle smooth running sound. I mean it not like a hole in the muffler of a car but just a rougher sound. Could this be muffler or exhaust? Would there be a performance increase with a new muffler? Or am I just worried about nothing and ride it like it was built that way?

Does it sound like a knocking or loud bearing type noise? CM you upload a video to YouTube and post the link here? My first gut reaction by your description is counterbalance weight link rods but thats completely throwinf a dart in the dark.

Thanks for response. I will take a recording of the cart running and upload but might a week before I get back to my camp to record it. But will do so first thing. Thanks again.

See if this sounds familiar. Its pretty common in older FE290's

Thanks for the post. I don’t think mine sounds like that. I don’t really detect any banging like I heard there but I will run it again and compare. I know it’s louder than the average FE290 motors I’ve heard in other club cars. But I’m a little worried cause I don’t want to experience the failure mention with the balance weight breaking off. Especially if I tinker with the govenor.
