Bigred's workhorse build!!
Ok here are a few photos of the start of the re-build of the cart. It's a 2000 workhorse that was beat to hell by the course that it was at. I paid $340.00 on Ebay for it and the motor ended up being toast. I've got the 18hp big block from CPP sitting in the shop just waiting to be installed. More to follow.

Re: Bigred's worhorse build!!
Yea they beat that cart up real bad. They made a repair to the frame using a lawn mower blade. I removed that today along with a part of the lower frame that was rusted out and welded in some new channel iron. Can't wait to get it painted so I can start putting it back together.

Re: Bigred's worhorse build!!
Here are some update photos. I finished painting it today with rustoleum hammered gloss black paint. Now I need to paint the rear axle tube and the front leaf springs then I can start putting it back together. I also posted a picture of the tube bender I built to make a roll cage and front tube bumper later on. More to come!!
Here it is with a couple coats of primer And painted, finally!! The BIG BLOCK The hydraulic tube bender |

Re: Bigred's worhorse build!!
Todwil, it's funny you should say that, I told the guys at work that I was going to try
and at least get the motor installed in it tomorrow and start it up. That means that I have to get the rear axle and front springs painted tomorrow and get all that installed before I can get the engine in. If I do get the engine in I still won't be able to drive it around yet because of the steering box that needs replacing. I just can't wait to hear that motor running in the cart. I will post pictures and maybe some video if I get the time. Jimbo |

Re: Bigred's worhorse build!!
Looks great! I know this is a noob type question, but I am new to golf carts, so here goes. How does reverse work with those type of conversions? The motor on my HD turns backward when in reverse?
