1991 Yamaha G9e Solid state Conversion
I have a 1991 Yamaha G9E that I would like to convert to solid state drive. as the coil and so forth has burn up. I have a lift kit and oversized tires on that I would like to use for hunting purposes. I know the speed controller, 2g wires, hd solenoid, F&R Switch, and all has to be replaced, included. In your experiences what is the other items that I will need for this conversion? As well as where are the best places to pick up these items at? I guess my biggest concern is the throttle linkage, have you ran across what the best option for this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
What controller do you suggest? Alltrax AXE4855 or 500amp FSIP(GE) 36-48v? What HD F&R Switch? Ezgo HD? What Solenoid? SuperDuty 400/1000amp as i may want to upgrade to 48v eventually? What PotBox or is there a controller that will work with my current throttle linkage? From what I have read a Curtis pb-6? Is this correct for is there a controller that will work with my current? Again, you input is appreciated and thank you for your time. |

Re: 1991 Yamaha G9e Solid state Conversion
G9 is solid state already, no resistor coils, you must have a G2 with a white steering wheel & column. You could use your current throttle wiper with some cheap & easy 1/4 watt resistors totaling 5000 ohm when you add up all the values. But this will give you noticeable "steps" in throttle increments. A pb6 would be a good choice and give you a linear throttle (no "steps"), but more expensive. If you really do have a G9, then you already have a 0-1k ohm throttle that is compatible with alltrax "series" controllers (also ready for 48v too).

Couple of guys have used my CC throttle conversion kit for this already. Wish they would post about their projects. One guy used the reversing contactor for his F&R too.
