Re: Taylor Dunn 1248 Tow Cart
I'm heading out that way today, so I'll let you know [emoji106]
For the paint, I was able to primer the body, put it against a smooth, contrasting background, take a picture, and upload it to an art app to give it the color pencil look. Then I printed a few color copies and started playing around with a few different designs, and tweaked it to what I wanted. From there, it was a matter of taping and painting with a high enamel spray paint we get from Lawson. I wanted the campus logo to be different than your typical decal, so we had our welding program cut it out and make it 3-D. This would be placed behind both back wheels. Once I had that down, it was time to start on the lights and figure out the back wheel fitment. |

Re: Taylor Dunn 1248 Tow Cart
I wound up finding some wheel spacers, longer studs, and nicer looking lug nuts to go with the studs. After applying paint, I started laying in the batteries and wiring it all up!
I put the lights on a separate battery from the drive motor, and mounted both chargers in the old battery compartment. |

That airplane cart was a Yamaha - not club car as I had thought. I put up a separate thread for it!

Did you also wire your winch to the single battery (assuming it is 12 volt)? |

Re: Taylor Dunn 1248 Tow Cart
Yes, that's how I wired it. I have a 48v - 12v converter I almost pulled off the shelf, but I know those drive batteries can wear down quick after a full day of use, so I didn't want to get caught off guard at the end of a day.

From what I have read, a dedicated battery seems to be the most popular approach as those winches can suck a lot of juice. |

Re: Taylor Dunn 1248 Tow Cart
I agree. We have dedicated winch and spray rig battery circuits on other trailers that only use an AGM and a solar panel just fine. This one is running a traditional wet cell, but I plan on switching to a deep cell blue top next.
