Default Cart not moving forward or reverse

I know very little to nothing about golf carts. My parents bought a used cart for my children and it has become a thorn in my side. It is a 2004 36V TXT. It has a six inch lift with larger tires and a back seat. I replaced the batteries 2.5 years ago with all new Trojans and yes they are fully charged. At least as far as I can tell as I do not have a volt meter. I added heavy duty leaf springs in the rear. I replaced the F/R rotary switch with Scotty's reverse contactor switch. Which was the best upgrade to the cart yet. And just a few months ago I replaced all the cables with 2G.

All of a sudden the cart no longer moves. There is an audible click I can hear coming from the solenoid as well as from the reverse contactor. But the cart does not even try to move in either forward or reverse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Get yourself a voltmeter. They are not expensive. You will need one to troubleshoot your no go problem.

Ok. Just went and picked up a multimeter. Just need to figure out how to use it and where and what I need to be checking on the cart.

Scotty,
Thanks for the link with all the info. It helped out tremendously. I believe I have figured the failure to be the solenoid. I am not getting pack voltage to the second large terminal when I remove the resistor and depress the gas pedal. I do get the solenoid click and pack voltage at the small terminals. So, now I will replace the solenoid and cross my fingers that is the only issue. Thanks to all for the assistance.

I agree. You are describing a solenoid failure. Glad I could help

Time for a beefier solenoid anyway. Stock one was marginal even for stock use.

True, the MZJ200(D) is a good replacement. SW180 even better.

Thanks Scotty. I was going to buy the MZJ200 but called a local guy who has a near identical one for $45. So I was going to grab that as I can have it quick. Only thing is it doesn't come with the resistor or diode. Can I just re-use the ones that are on the bad solenoid?
