Club Car 48 V Stopped Dead
Hi All
I once again need some help. I have 97 Club Car with a 500 amp Alltrax controller and high speed motor and 2 and 4 gg wires. I also just installed a new heavy duty FNR switch on Wednesday. Everything worked great Wednesday night for my ususal 3 mile spin around the neighborhood. I put it on the charger that night and it turned off by Thanksgiving morning. We just got back home and I backed it out and parked it on the yard. I took it down the street about 50 ft and now it won't move in F or R. When I press the accelerator, I can hear the solenoid clicking in F and R and I rechecked all of the connections on FNR switch and they are perfect. I have a group of people coming over tomorrow and I need this thing running. Can someone please help me diagnose this? I has run great the last few weeks even though the batteries are a little weak.. The charger always shuts off by the morning after a nightly 3 mile ride. Thanks for your help!!!!!! |

Re: Club Car 48 V Stopped Dead
What other information do you need?
1997 Club Car 48 Volt Alltrax 4855 Controller GE 5.5 HP motor New Heavy Duty FNR Assembly (1 day old). Reverse was not working so installed this and it solved the problem Batteries-2010 all test at 8.3 volts Wheels turn about 1 inch and then stop. I have it up on the rack and the wheels spin when I move them. One thing is when I push the left tire forward (drivers side), the passenger side goes backwards. Is that correct?? I pulled the cart our of the garage today and then put it forward and parked it for 5 minutes. I took it down the street for 50' and it wouldn't go forward. I hear the solenoid click in forward and reverse and I have checked every cable. Will it help to plug up the controller if I can get a USB-RS232 form RadioShack? Cart gets fully charged and has fine up until today. |

Can you push it by hand on level ground? Will it roll freely?

Re: Club Car 48 V Stopped Dead
Yes it will. I had to push it back to the garage. I have it up on jacks and I don't hear any brake sounds when I push the wheels. After sitting for a few minutes one of the wheels may move 1/2" up on the jack stands. Since the solenoid is clicking in F and R, does that eliminate it form being bad? Also, I have the Alltrax 4855 controller. I just got the cable to hook it up. Is there anything I can test on that to eliminate the controller also?
THanks for the help!! I am running out of time!!!! |

Re: Club Car 48 V Stopped Dead
With your rear wheels up on jacks. Jumper across the two large lugs of the solenoid and see if the wheels turn when you press the throttle. Seems I've read that the inch of movement you're getting is caused by the pre-charge resistor across the solenoid.
If you don't have a large jumper you can connect both large wires on the solenoid to either of the large solenoid posts. REMEMBER REAR WHEELS OFF THE GROUND ON JACK STANDS. |

Hi JJANCE
I am a little confused. I never have used a jumper. What exactly is a jumper and how do you attach it to the two large lugs of the solenoid. I do have some old battery cables |

Re: Club Car 48 V Stopped Dead
A jumper is used to connect two points together. Like in jumper cable. Now if you have a set of jumper cables here's what you can do. Using only one cable either the red or black, connect the two large lugs on the solenoid together. Observe all safety precautions mentioned earlier. Step on the throttle and see if the wheels spin.

OK-The wheels spin when I hooked up a jumper to the two large lugs on the solenoid and hit the gas. What does that tell me?
Thanks!! |

Re: Club Car 48 V Stopped Dead
It means your solenoid is bad. Even though it clicks it is still bad. The internal connections are burnt. It might be because of the new controller that they are burnt. Get the new HD model. Don't be tempted to leave them shorted out and drive it. You could put yourself in a dangerous runaway cart situation.
