Another stuck brake drum
Friend brought over a 01 elec CC with the left rear wheel locking up when he applies the brakes. Tried to remove the drum to look at the shoes but it's stuck on the shoes. My guess is that it's cut into the drum. Unlike the older CCs this assembly has NO adjuster so I have no idea how to back out the shoes to get the drum off. Tried the cable adjustment but that was no help.
Help appreciated. |

Re: Another stuck brake drum
Disconnect the cable and force the lever back. If that fails to release the drum cut the nail heads off of the shoe retainer studs (2) and use a drum puller to remove the drum

Re: Another stuck brake drum
Disconnected both cables at the brake lever, Then a good whack with a BFH on each drum, on the face and in about the center of each shoe, and they both came off. I guess the whack knocked the shoes off the drums just enough.
Turns out that on these newer models there is an adjuster, but not accessible from the outside to screw it in or out. Thanks all! |
