Trojan T860 vs T875
Just looking for some opinions between the t860 and t875 batteries by Trojan. I can get 6 860's for 588.00 after tax and the 875's for $654 after tax. I am upgrading a txt to 48v. It has an alltrax 400 amp controller and ge raptor speed motor. The cart has 18" tires and is only driven on flat paved roads. The most I usually ever drive the cart before charging is about 5 miles. Should I go with the 860's or will spending a lil extra for the 875's be better in the long run?

For $66 I would go bigger.

Re: Trojan T860 vs T875
Since you drive mostly on paved, level roads, make relatively short trips and have stock height tires, run time probably isn't a major consideration, but for battery life expectancy, the higher the amp hours, the longer it will be before you need to replace the batteries.
In a nutshell, the higher the average State of Charge maintained, the greater number of charge/discharge cycle the batteries have and a 170AH battery (T-875) won't be discharged as much on a 5 mile trip as a 150AH battery (T-860). Whatever you decide, be sure to charge them fully before first use and break them in properly for maximum storage capacity. Here is how to break them in: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Batter...n_Methods.html While there, read everything with the word "Battery" in title. Lots of good info. |

I no longer offer the T-860's as that sat in my shop and in my distributors warehouse so long...People realize that for a little more buck you get a longer life expectancy...

Re: Trojan T860 vs T875
Got 6 T875's and finally found another 48 volt charger after mine went out. When I bought the cart all I wanted was 20mph, after upgrading motor and controller i was around 23 mph on 36 volts. Still was not quite happy. After the 48 volt upgrade I'm hitting around 31-32 mph on flat pavement. I'm done with the speed upgrades, now i need to get a backseat.

You might want to look into upgrading your brakes before risking two more lives at those speeds.

I probably will upgrade the brakes, but all I do is creep around when I have passengers. I only max it out when I'm running to town by myself to pick up something.

Re: Trojan T860 vs T875
Talking bout speed..... what took you from the low 20's to the low 30's?? upping to 48v, the controller upgrade, or a speed motor?

Re: Trojan T860 vs T875
It was the 48v upgrade because the high speed motor turns 5330 rpms on 36 volts. Which means 7066 rpms on 48v. But I couldn't have upgraded either without the controller.

Re: Trojan T860 vs T875
Now another question arises, I was just at the local U-Haul, where ther owner builds TXT to peoples specs... I go in and asked questions on occasion. the latest was adding 2 6v's to get me to 48v system. I have 08 Trojans, he said Trojan has 'slipped from being the best and now it's Crown', and that adding 2 new Crowns to the 08 Trojans shouldn't hurt a thing..?? ya/nah,,, right/wrong??
