Default Battery Guide Help Needed

I printed out a copy of the Battery Guide and laminated it to keep it on my cart. I installed a Datel battery meter I bought from ScottyB and need a little help with reading the chart.

I have a 2008.5+ Club Car Precedent that has the six 8 battery 48 volt system.

First, the chart is "standarized" to 80 degrees. Does the voltage vary with ambient temperature and if so how is it affected?

Can I make a chart that would include different temperatures?

I am just trying to be able to use the meter to make sure I know how much battery I have left in the tank.

Thanks,
Thomas

I don't think the voltage readings change significantly, what does change with temp are the SG (specific gravity) readings. Most manufactures recommend you not discharge their batteries below 50% and most agree that less you discharge between charging the more times you can recharge.... here is another chart to ponder

Scotty,

Are you saying the specific gravity changes daily or is it pretty consistent as long as you maintain your battery water levels with distilled water?

Thanks,
Thomas

A battery's specific gravity changes with the state of charge.

I never check SG unless I am trying to find a problem or determine the health of a battery.
