Street legal?
hey guys im planin on going to a car show/cruise later in the summer and i was just wondering if there is anyone out there that knows what i would need to have on my golf cart to be street legal. do i even need to be street legal? i will only be driving through a parking lot and crossing some streets but not driving along them. i already have headlight, brake lights, and a horn. my golf cart is a 1979 club car caroche if that helps at all. thanks a lot guys i really appreciate it!!!

Re: Street legal?
I't would be advised to check with the state-town where you are going. I was thinking about street legal carts, until I spoke with a virginia state police who informed me there was no such thing in VA. here it is legal to cross hwy. as long as you don't drive on the road. at least for atvs .

Re: Street legal?
Every state, county, and town has different laws.I talked with NY DMV at length(an hour)about this. The guy was great, looked at every option, but it simply came down to the fact that since carts don't have a Title/Registration from the Mfg. they cannot be registered here. All your usual regulations apply where you can register them(lights,horn,signals/brake-lites,speedo,Windshield,etc..).Hope this helps.

Re: Street legal?
From what I've been told some states allow street carts and in some cases towns make there own laws on this.
