Default Marathon sparking pole Board ?

88 36 Volt marathon
Newly rewiredm I had a bad micro switch on the pole board, I bypassed it.
It only sparks when i start to go on first & stop speed.
nay ideas
Does any wire go to the bottom copper pole stud?

The arching is caused by misaligned or pitted lugs/buttons. No, the stop position should not have any connection.
