Default Help needed with Riot Install

I am in the midst of installing a Riot kit on my '12 YDRE and ran into some fitment issues with the controller and new solenoid. Since its the weekend, trying here first but plan to reach out to Don as well on Monday.

Here's my issue... I installed the solenoid using the right mounting hole (despite the instructions stating to use the left) to get a little more room since both holes don't line up to the OEM mounting holes. And no matter what I try, the controller physically will not fit as it is hitting the left side of the solenoid and I can only get one mounting bolt in (you can see in the photo the controller is sitting at a slight angle. Since I assume these parts should install without drilling new holes (which is my plan B for the solenoid), so open to suggestions/help.

I also double checked the Alltrax mount orientation and the logo is facing up as per the instructions. It is also the only way the mount holes to the frame line up, so it has to be correct.

And if anyone has some pictures of this kit installed that might also help. I included a couple shots of the issue and get a few more as needed.

Thanks!!!

I am installing my Riot Kit this weekend as well in my 2015 YDRE. I hit the exact same issue as you. Except I did use the left bolt hole on the solenoid mount, and of course it doesn't fit. My next move was going to be to try the right hand one, but now that I see it didn't work for you, I am just going to move it over and use both of the Tek9 bolts to mount it, since two were included.

I also tried mounting the alltrax adapter plate upside down, as I found the alltrax instructions contradictory, the photo showed the logo upright, the text said upside down, but didn't find a good mate to the holes without it being upright.

Yeah, both sets of instructions had some issues. After stepping away for a couple minutes, I realized the hardware kit had 2 of the Tek9 bolts you mentioned (even though Don's instructions say to use 1 along with the left stock hole/bolt) and simply moving the solenoid to the right using them solved the problem.

Now I see why this is called a Riot kit after taking the first test drive. Wow, did it wake up my cart. Even at partial pedal, I easily hit speeds in the upper teens. My baseline top speed was 13. Now to get some hours logged so I can really have some fun!

Gents, I did the same install but on a 2003 g22e. Same issue though. I drilled new holes and used some stainless bolts. Took no time and fixed it. To clarify, this was me moving the solenoid to a better location. Just check on the frame/weldment to make sure you don't hit anything. It is really simple.

Quick question alloyvert, I thought I was replacing the cables from the controller to the motor, do we reuse all four of those cables? It seems I have a complete battery cable set if I do that. I would have thought I would need to replace all of the cables.

You reuse the controller to motor cables and replace all the battery cables. Which makes sense as you would not want replace only a couple of the batteries cables as that would defeat the purpose of having 4 gauge copper throughout the battery system.

I highly recommend using 2 gauge on ALL of the cables aside from the F1/F2. It is worth it and probably needed with those 500 amp controllers. 4 GA is too small in my opinion.

For those who have upgraded your motors, how critical is the recommended 50 hour break in period?? I don't plan to really push the cart since the Riot upgrade, but based on our usage it could quite a while to log 50 hours.

I did not know about the break in and have just been running normally. So far many months later... so good.
