Losing power
It s probably been asked a million times...…..I'm losing power going up hill. 1995 36V Medalist. Brand new Duracell 6v batteries. I know not the best but its what I could afford. Showing 36.9 on the flat and 34.8 uphill. 22" tires on 10" wheels. All new 2g wires.
Any help would be much appreciated. |

Re: Losing power
The Duracells are actually decent batteries. First of all, the batteries will get stronger after you break them in. Brand new batteries are not at their 100% potential until after 20 or so charge cycles. Secondly, is your drive system stock besides the new cables? If so, your larger tires are causing you to lose uphill torque.

Re: Losing power
Converting to a modern solid state system with a higher amperage controller would do your cart wonders. Several of our site sponsors like Carts Unlimited and Revolution Golf Cars sell conversion kits. Since you already upgraded to 2 gauge, you could go up to a 500 amp controller.

Re: Losing power
The Huntin' Buggie pkg SR48500 + 400 solenoid from Carts unlimted should work, right?
Anything else I should look at? |

Re: Losing power
That's a solid setup, the Alltrax controllers are great. Don't forget about the FR switch, you'll need an HD one.

Re: Losing power
Ray make sure your charger is fully charging your batteries. What is the battery pack read? (12hrs rest after a full charge cycle is completed)
You can use the chart below as a reference. I used the Duracell 8volt batteries when I upgraded my 94 Medalist to 48v just over 2yrs ago and have been very happy with them. Keep us in the loop and good luck! |
