Re: Buying my First Yamaha
Finally got the new cart. Don't plan on changing much, just some governor adjustments for a little more speed and add a radio. I will say though, this sucker is very sluggish going up a hill.

Re: Buying my First Yamaha
Adjusting the governor won't help too much on the hills, for that you'll want to invest in Plowman's clutch kit. Night and day difference.. speaking from experience. :)

Call Plowmans and upgrade the clutches.
You will Regret not doing it sooner if you wait. |

Re: Buying my First Yamaha
Get the "hot setup" if available for your cart, or whatever he recommends, he won't upsell you on stuff you don't need. He will make your cart perform night and day differently though. Great company and person to deal with. I'd recommend calling right after they open and talk to the lady that answers the phone. She'll take down your name and number and have Don call you back. Be ready to be by your cart when Don calls and he will ask you a few things and then have you set up. They usually ship same day. I had all my stuff on in less than a week from when I called Don.

Re: Buying my First Yamaha
worth every penny I spent too, out of all of the stuff I have done to my cart, the parts from plowman gave me more results/$ (kinda like mpg) than anything else.

Re: Buying my First Yamaha
Thanks guys for all the information. I've spoken with Don and will be getting this process started here pretty soon. The cart is mainly used by my 14 year old, so not looking for additional speed, just looking to lose the sluggishness it has going up hills. Any advice on the tuning process would be greatly appreciated.

May have been said already but be sure your drive belt is in good shape. I bought a lifted 2012 Yami once. It was sluggish taking off until I replaced the old worn out drive belt.

Re: Buying my First Yamaha
Just search for yamaha governor adjustment threads, they all use the same adjuster.
