Did you try a resistor plug like the OP found?
If that doesn't do it, get a regulator like this one. If your stereo draws under 4 amps this will work, otherwise do a search for a 12v regulator for whatever amps you are drawing https://www.amazon.com/Voltage-Stabi...7198160&sr=8-5 This goes to 12 amps, but isn't waterproof https://www.amazon.com/DROK-Converte...198280&sr=8-11 |

I might have to give those a try. I'm at witts end here. 12v when my cart is just sitting & when when I take off it jumps way up to 17/18v. I'm at a loss!

You either have a bad voltage regulator or it's not installed correctly. The center terminal should have a green wire that connects to a small terminal on the starter. Is that connected?

I know this is an old post but I been digging and searching for info. This is just what is happening to me. Getting to the point; I thought the regulator suppose to be used for electric cars to lower the voltage. Even though you got a gas golf cart, you still installed it and it work for your stereo? I have try so much and I do have a regulator just sitting there and by reading this I hope this is my solution. Thanks in advance!
