Default shifter position

can anyone figure out how to put a new shifter on a yamaha G2 so that its like a stick that you push forward and pull back instead of side to side? i liek the way mccoy did his but i dont have bucket seats...id like to have it on te floor 2 but the seat folding forward wouldnt allow that...anyone have any ideas?

Unless your going to rework the whole cart, seems like a lot of work for
not much gain. IMO

I agree but it could be done Gary. You would have to move the entire shift mechanism and position it sideways or fab up a new type shifter to hook the cables too. Plus you would have to cut a whole in your floorboard, etc... It would look cool but it would definitely be a lot of work.

move your whole mecanism inside the cart soo its not exposed and go too a junk yaard and get the actuwatior and wiring that does the aoutomotic locks on a car and rig it too that. that way you have a lil switch that you can use too change direction

door lock wont work i tryed it. they dont have enough power to push and pull. you would need to buy a 30 to 50 pound push pull actuator..

I was toying with my Club Car's shifter a few days ago, and it looks like I could leave everything stock, just mount it under the floorboard and get a shift lever for above. However, it would definitely not be a short-throw shifter.
