Default Comet 780 with club car driven clutch

I’m putting a Predator 420 in my 88 DS. The original clutch is junk and the one to get seems to be the comet 780. But what I’m not sure on here is there fact that the comet calls for a 1 1/8”-1 3/16” belt. I currently have 7/8”. Will I need to replace the driven clutch as well?

I didn't know Club Car had a 7/8" belt in some carts

Generally speaking, no matter the cart, the drive clutch and driven clutch need to be set up for the same size belt.

Is it possible for that belt to be worn that much (from 1-1/8")? How high does that 7/8" belt set in the secondary currently?

The belt should be a 1" belt for the club car.

Some people have run them but its not ideal. You can get them machined to work with wider belt I have read. Its best to buy the larger one to make it work right. Right CC should be 1 inch and there are only 2 belt sizes available, in 1 3/16 there are many sizes, something to keep in mind if you move the engine. I had to move my engine with a new clutch it was tighter on the belt. The 1" belt is really substandard but I guess it gets the job done on a stock CC cart.
