V-Twin Exhaust Build
Not a whole lot of info on exhaust design when it comes to carts. I'm in the process of putting a Briggs in my Ezgo and now building the exhaust. any pros and cons of two into one with single muffler or two into two mufflers with or without a crossover pipe? I'm looking for quiet ride and at this point I have built a two into two mufflers that is very quiet but wondering about a crossover.
What are your thoughts? Mitch |

Re: V-Twin Exhaust Build
What mufflers are you using? I have the Vegas Carts header/muffler on a Predator 670, and the thing is loud. Sounds good, but not at midnight coming home from a late night at the neighbors.

Re: V-Twin Exhaust Build
I bought a thrush muffler for a 4 cylinder car and ran 2 into 1 ahead of the muffler. I ended up running a longish tailpipe past the rear axles to reduce noise. My muffler was mounted in front of the engine due to the space available. It's quiet until you get on it then you can tell it's a bigger motor but honestly the sound is disappointing

Disappointing how? Too quiet, funky engine sound, or too loud when you get on it? I don't have room up front, but could put one under the rear seat above the rear axle...disappointingly quiet is what I am looking for. When I step on it now, the whole neighborhood knows I am out on the cart.

Re: V-Twin Exhaust Build
I'm gonna start a build post of my cart but here is the exhaust process.
To start, I just did a G16 with a Briggs 18 and ran the Vegas carts exhaust kit on it. All that work and it was way too loud!! Took it back off and cut it up and made a two into one with the stock muffler, much better but I wanted more quiet! So on to my cart, I bought a pipe kit on line and started with the cool idea of duals out the back. Had it looking good until I put the body on and stepped up on the back of it. The plastic body sat right down on the two mufflers so on to Plan B |

Re: V-Twin Exhaust Build
After moving the mufflers around I settled on this area.
I made another mounting bracket for the two mufflers and then ran the exhaust pipes to them. I started it up and it sounded great and quiet, I went ahead and installed a crossover pipe and actually took a lot of the individual "pop-pop" out of each muffler and ended up with a smoother uniformed sound. Very happy with the outcome. |

Re: V-Twin Exhaust Build
Nice fab work. I like the dual pipes and crossover. Haven't seen that done yet.

Re: V-Twin Exhaust Build
Nice work as usual Crash. We've come to expect nothing less from you All that pipe will make a great winter seat heater... I ended up putting a heatshield between my pipe and gas tank
I meant disappointing as in I used a car (4cyl) muffler which is really not complimentary to the twin. It works but disappointed because it doesn't sound like my Mustang P.S. I put the muffler up front because the workhorse which had an extra 10-12 inches in front of the engine. |

Mustangs have a very unique sound all to their own.
