I would have lost money on that darn soggy box
Yupp i was for sure that you would have taken a razor blade, and cut all 4 corners, snapped popped and broke the styrofoam just to get to the engine
Heck you didn't even break out the paperwork on the do's and don't s,
That's okay there's enough warning stickers on the engine itself so you really don't need the book
yes sir it's really cold weather here too, it barely made it to 67!!!!

P.S.

I feel your pain on the back situation, no really i feel your pain....
Wich is why i have things to do the lifting for me..
I know you have cool toys, and cool tools as well, so i am sure you got something to left the engine,
It starts by cutting the corners

Yeah, my back is so bad right now that I can barely walk.... It's all I can do just to go to work and carry ladders, pipe, tools, up and down stairs, drill holes in concrete, digging etc. Golf cart stuff just has to wait.

And when it's 16 degrees in the morning, it just takes too much propane to get the shop to 60. Plus anything metal is just so cold to the touch. It's just too cold for garage work. Now when the temp gets up to 38 degrees....different story.

The good news is I get my second trigger point injection this morning, along with massage, adjustment, and physical therapy.

It won't hit 75 until May.

But when it's 35 or above outside, my shop can be at 75 in about an hour

Had some shop time today. It was around 30 degrees so not too bad. After I fired up the heater it was 65 in the shop, got as high as 80 had to take my sweatshirt off lol!

Unpacked the 670, went over it real good. Valve lash was real tight, two of them were .002. Set them all to .006. Found some metal shavings under one valve cover from the bolt hole on the valve cover, it was too tight and rubbed on the bolt. Opened that up a little and cleaned it up.

Checked the spark plugs and gaps. Filled it with 0w50 synthetic atv oil. Will change it out soon for 5w30, just didn't have anything else.

Sorted out the wiring. Basically I just cut the whole starter switch assembly off. Kept the low oil sensor and anti backfire solenoid. Pretty much the same type of hookups as a Vanguard.

Exterior dimensions are similar to the 16 Vanguard, but the 670 is several inches wider. Weight is similar, but 670 is definitely heavier.

The engine mounted up just like the Vanguard. Wire hookups were nearly identical. Throttle and choke linkages were really easy and my cables linked up without any modifications.

Fit was tighter than the 16 Vanguard, mostly because of the muffler. But everything has plenty of clearance. I would say the fit is similar to the 23 Vanguard.

Total time for removal and install: less than 3 hours.

Startup was quick. Didn't need the choke. It stumbled for about 2 minutes then cleared right up. Man this thing sounds nice. It is very quiet compared to both my 16 and 23 Vanguard. I suppose the muffler the 670 comes with is to.credit for how quiet it is. I have seen similar mufflers on some Vanguards, I'm betting they would be similar?

I did remove the.caps that covered the pilot screws. I did adjust them a little as it was running at about 2300 rpm. I got the pilot adjusted so I could slow the idle down, then adjusted some more. It now starts and idles at about 1100 rpm.

Here's a video.

Overall my impression of the 670 is as follows:

* Smooth running and starting
* Decent power and torque, big improvement over a stock engine
* More powerful than stock 16 Vanguard
* Not as powerful as the 16 Vanguard with a cam and rev kit
* Not even close in power to the stock 23 Vanguard
* More power and torque than a stock VC440
* More low end torque and better usability than a built VC440
* Excellent powerplant for someones first big block swap
* More quiet than any big block engine I've used to date

This engine is perfect for what I need it for. Mild power, very drivable. Easily can go slow for putting around in the yard. Easy for the kids and wife to drive. Quiet so it won't tick off the neighbors. Enough power to pull a trailer full of firewood or scrap, or to plow snow. Haven't done a speed test yet, but I'm betting it's going to be 25-30 mph keeping it below 4500 rpm, so it's plenty fast enough. Acceleration is good, probably twice as quick as a stock golf cart, maybe more. I'll know better how quick/fast it is when the snow melts and the air temps are a little warmer. It does donuts in the snow pretty good!

One thing I did find that was odd..... There are two charge wires coming out of the VR/Rectifier and one appears cut. Any ideas why that would be? Should I fire it up and see if there is output there? See pic
