Hello I need to change my oil before heading north and was wondering what everyone is running in there V-Twins. I believe I just ran straight 30 last time. Motor has Governor removed and header. Let me know what oil you run.

I run 15w40 Rotella in mine because it has some zinc and phosphorus in it. Modern car oils don't have these additives because it will damage catalytic converters. Straight HD30 would also have these additives in it, but I wouldn't run that oil in cold weather.

You can run any oil you wish. 5w30 is common. If you run an automotive oil, get an additive with zinc and phosphorus in it.

I bought it for my old Chevy, and after reading the pros and cons about it on the Chevy Talk forum, I've decided against using it. The car has gotten along without it for 69 years, so I think it'll be OK.

I've never used it in any small engines, mainly because I wasn't aware of the product until last year. At this point in time, I'm not going to start.
