G2 - input shaft replacement (picture)
How do I pull it out to put the new one in? Do I need some kind of puller to yank the bowl/hook thing on the end?

FYI: That "bowl/hook thing" is the arms & weights of the governor. |

Got the old input shaft off. Now need to figure out how to get that gear off the old input shaft. You would think for $200 they would include it...

Froze the old shaft and got the old gear off. Dont think I will be able to get it back on without a shop press. Left a message with an ATV shop to see if they can put it on.

Dropped the shaft off at the ATV shop. Thought about buying a shop press but would only use it once or twice a year. Now I wait.

Re: G2 - input shaft replacement (picture)
If you put the shaft in the freezer for 24 hours and then before you take it out, heat the gear in the oven at 400 for 30 minutes, you can usually slide it on with just a little help. And some thick gloves.
I do this to flywheel ring gears and bearings as well. Let it naturally cool, do not quench it to cool it... |

I bought a new gear. It was only 20 dollars or so. Then pressed it on with a harbor freight shop press. It’s a snug fit.
