Sled motor Fuel pump
Okay, hopefully one of you sled motor guys can help me out. I have a Arctic Cat 440 motor in one of my carts. It had a vacum accuated fuel pump on the bottom of the carb, and it started to act up, so I replaced it with a Mikuni 38mm. Now I need to feed fuel to it. Do I need to use another pulse vacum accuated fuel pump, or can I use a small output electric fuel pump? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Sled motor Fuel pump
i have good luck with electric fuel pumps on 2 cycles, if you can keep the fuel pressure around 6 lbs or less, i buy the pumps that you can somewhat adjust and put a gauge on it to set it up and the way you go.

Re: Sled motor Fuel pump
Best to use a Mikuni fuel pump. It will require a pulse line though. If you don't have a pulse fitting you will have to drill a hole in the bottom end of the motor and install a fitting

Re: Sled motor Fuel pump
There is a pulse line that runs off the bottom of the motor, don't know how much compression it suppose to have though.

Re: Sled motor Fuel pump
Just run a line from there to the pulse fitting on a mikuni pump, install the mikuni pump between the tank and the carb and you're all set! The pulse line provides a vacuum / pressure oscillating signal to the diaphragm in the mikuni pump to move the fuel. As long as your crank seals are good this should work great. Use a pump like this:
