Lithium custom cart based on 1988 marathon
I am getting ready to design the drive system on a custom build. It’s an 88 marathon. Stretched and slammed with air shocks and dual compressors. Trying to decide on conversion kit and components.
Current components- 7module leaf pack and BMS. Aftermarket onboard charger. Dual 400c Viair compressors w/5 gallon tank. 400A solenoid HD 48v to 12v convertor HD F/R switch Planning on making a relay box and running all drive and running lights on 1 “circuit”. Effect lighting and sound system will be on separate keyed circuit to main. Secondary 110ac adapter for extended parked use without draining batteries. Custom body to come later. So I’d like some pointers on the conversion. I am gonna use Scottybs kit With the 500a. It comes with a replacement throttle pedal. Is there anything I will need to replace missing original parts? The coils are gone. I have a rough looking potentiometer switch that I assume is trash. Does the new throttle replace that whole assembly? A few pics below. I haven’t been the best at record keeping lol. Thanks Stephen |

Re: Lithium custom cart based on 1988 marathon
For the dual compressors, are you going to run those off of the 12v converter? The 12V converters may not be capable of running both at the same time.
How long of a stretch are you giving it? This could be a really cool looking cart. I assume you are going with an aftermarket motor, if it's a stock motor then make sure you dial the amps on the controller to 400 for now. Then later if you get an aftermarket motor you can dial the amps back up to 500. |

Re: Lithium custom cart based on 1988 marathon
When you say stretch do you mean a 6 seater? If so, maybe consider going with 14 leaf modules. You may be disappointed with the range/ performance on a heavier cart with upgrades and only 50ah or so.
As far as the compressors you might consider a separate 12V aux battery. If not, I found a 60A 48-12V reducer that could work for you (hince the suggestion of a bigger battery pack). https://www.amazon.com/720W-Converte...ws_feature_div |
