Re: convert electric to gas
If you already have a gasser rearend in the cart, just get a big block kit from cart parts plus and the only other piece you'll need is a gas tank and throttle cable.

We have a differental.... And what else do we need? A big block kit. HOw much is that? And what else will we need? A fuel tank? How about a battery & a place to put it? and a fuel pump, filter, & lines? and ignition? and well,...I'm jus sayin it's more than you might think...so start writing it all down with a dollar amount in the column next to it |

Re: convert electric to gas
It all depends on where you want to end up. It is absolutely cheaper and easier to just buy a gas cart if that's what you want. I would never advise anyone to try to convert an electric cart into a stock type gasser. But, if one wanted to have a big block cart, I think starting with an electric cart is not that big a deal. The cart parts plus kits come with everything you would need to install in an electric cart minus the tank, battery, and throttle cable. All of which can be purchased for less than $100 (I know this because I did it). I know the original poster did not mention anything about a big block cart, but it is in the big block forum.

Re: convert electric to gas
I agree with scotty but Id also say it depends on what parts ya got laying around to work with and how much you like to work.
Today I put a G2 gas rear end with a 13hp Harbor Freight motor into an 04 electric EZGO. I just bought this cart and it ran like new but I couldnt stand hitting the range of a 36 volt golf cart everytime I ride. Mathmatically it was better for me to do the swap and have the good batteries, controller, charger etc for another project. Now I've got a fun off road cart with a new engine that rides all day long and 22" coilovers in the back. This one makes my 3rd electric to gas conversion. Or you could leave it electric and build a golf cart pusher trailer. |
