Default 2000.5 Club Car Rebuild

I am in the process of taking apart my cart for cleaning the body of corrosion and doing a solid state conversion...this is going to be my winter project and as I may even repaint the body...who knows...I am taking lots of pics and taking notes as to the order I take things off...I am replacing all rusty bolts/screws/etc...

So, just a couple of questions as I make plans on my rebuild (I have gotten the roof, and seats off so far):
1.When I remove the batteries, do I need to charge them periodically? I just recently purchased 6 new Trojan batteries and don't want them to go bad!
2. Where is the solid state conversion kit going to be mounted? Just planning ahead...
3. As I go to remove the Forward/reverse switch and the plug for my charger are there any things I need to be aware of??

Also, as I go though the conversion/rebuild, am I going to need these cables? These run from the v glide to the resistor group coils.

You can take off the body without removing the batteries...or you can buy a battery minder and set the batteries off to the side and replace the cables that connect the batteries together then put the battery minder on the batteries to keep them charged. As far as location for the solid state system most seem use the original location of the solenoids and resistors are now.

I did the same thing as you, removed my battery pack for my first general cleaning. I set my batteries aside but did not interconnect them. I kept them charged with a 2A -12 volt charger and just moved charging cables around monitoring with a meter. When a battery reached 8.6 volts I took it off the charge. I used my phone as a timer and reminder.

So I have gotten more cleaning done on the frame...

I have a question for Scotty B please...
Does your conversion kit (which I am going to be purchasing soon) come with a new solenoid...I am attaching a pic of the one in the cart now and it is in pretty rough shape! Thanks

What is the serial number of your cart? I have 2000 DS and things on your cart are much different than mine. Also, how many cells are in your batteries? BTW: Thanks for the great pics and keep us posted on the progress.

Ok so it been a while but though I would give an update...took longer than expected to get the frame all cleaned up (life gets in the way). But I think it looks good. Finally purchased my conversion kit and have started the install. Scotty B has been invaluable though this whole thing...he really is so quick to answer questions! I can't thank him enough and I know unfortunately I will have some more coming his way...
So far it has gone pretty smooth just some little things here and there...thus far nothing technical just handy work...anyway here are some pics of my progress.
