wrecked cart and used trojan batteries
I have a pds cart that was taken and rolled by kids that had 2010 T-605s.
I have another cart that has 2008 T105s. There is exactly 2 years difference between the batteries. The un-wrecked cart is going to be sold to pay for repairs and upgrades to the wrecked cart. When I sell the cart I can put either batteries in it. Both sets maintained by me monthly. 2008 t105s 2010 t605s Virtually the same total pack charge, individual cell, and hydrometer readings. Which set would you keep? |

Re: wrecked cart and used trojan batteries
If you don't get a response from JohnnieB I would send him a message and ask, he knows way to much about batteries. I am an amateur at best but usually with batteries newer is better. Did you purchase both sets new? If so which set is used more heavily since it seems you take good care of your batteries? 2008 just by year alone seem like they are about over as far as life goes and would be a hard battery pack to sell. Good luck

Re: wrecked cart and used trojan batteries
Choosing between 3yo 210AH batteries and 5yo 225AH batteries is a tough decision, however, I'm lazy, so I'd probably leave the batteries in the carts they are currently in.
Also, if the wrecked PDS cart was more or less stock and will stay that way, the life expectancy of the T-605 and T-105 will be roughly the same, so being 2 years newer, the T-605's should last nearly 2yrs longer before they need to be replaced. Theoretically, a properly maintained T-105 whose average SoC is kept at 70% and charged daily, will last about 5.6 years and with the same loading, charging and care, a T-605 will last about 5.3 years. Exactly how long the T-105's will last is unknown, but subjected to the same conditions, the T-605's will last about the same length of time, less 3 or 4 months, and the clock started ticking on them 2 years later. |

Re: wrecked cart and used trojan batteries
Thanks for the replies
Part of the reason I asked was that the battery tray was ripped out of the pds cart when it rolled so one set of batteries are already removed. I've only had the 105s in the past and the 605s were new, in the cart when I purchased it and I wasn't familiar with their life expectancy. Thanks again |
