Do I need new rings?
I recently got my 1990 Par car running. I had to replace the broken choke shaft. After I installed it I have to use the choke to make it run everytime the cart comes to a complete stop, even after it has been running for a while. I was told that if I replaced the rings that it would solve the problem. Has any one had experience with this or know if this will solve the problem?

Re: Do I need new rings?
I just rebuilt the top end of mine and I still need to choke it alot. I checked the read plates by removing the carb and they are all their and does not look like the are bent. I am going to look into my fuel line and vacuum line next and look for vacuum leak.

Re: Do I need new rings?
maybe the crank seals are leaking or maybe the timing is off.

Well if I am going to check them I am going to change them. I just ordered seals, a new read plate and gaskets, new plug, and Belts. I will Check the timing when I put it back together. After this I would have replaced the top end, carb, battery, reed plate, oil seals, belts, plug and wire, key switch, and f/r Thanks again. |

Re: Do I need new rings?
It appears that my cart has finally bit the dust this past weekend. I took it on a long ride up and down some hills and it just wouldn't go any further. The fuel filter isn't drawing gas from the tank, so I was told that it probally lost comprehsion. I'm going to order new rings, piston and gaskets. Is there anything else I'll need or could it be another problem?

did you check the fuel pick up in the tank to make sure it's not pluged?
