Alot of online sources say 4g for the battery to starter and 2g for the ground

I'm only using a thin braided battery ground strap, so should I ditch both and upgrade both

Should I upgrade the battery and positive cable?
Wouldn't be a bad idea to install a new 4 gauge though. Have your battery checked. You probably need one is my guess. The braided ground cable that came with your MPT 1200 is sort of small for your engine now. I might add one a little larger. I want to hear this thing run and watch it take off lol

I guess the battery is pretty much dead now if it drops to 5 volts on crank. Might recover a bit with a charge, but I doubt it. Go with trigs recommendations on the cables if you think it needs it too. Come on, we've been waiting a long time for this to be done lol.

I ordered 4g negative and positive cables

I'm charging the battery from my riding mower, that has a 22hp engine, as a test to see if it will start this 18hp engine

If I do need a new battery, I'm going with an automotive battery and not a smaller golf cart lawn tractor style

Group size 26 and Group size 34 both have good numbers with a somewhat similar size to my current 426G

Lawn mower battery is charging, going to swap batteries first and see.

Then, going to install new thicker cables and see what happens

Then, if nothing works I'll leave the thicker cables installed and buy a new, larger battery

Lawn mower battery charged up overnight on the trickle charger

It started the engine fine. I guess the old battery was bad!

Time to shop for a new battery

What's the best option for the pride, normal flooded wet cell or a deep cycle marine?
