Re: Planning Engine Swap
The high rev kit will help you not loose performance at higher revs and protect agains bent pushrods. The rev kit does NOT protect against wear on the con rods at high revs. Stock con rods are good up to 5000 revs, past that and they will wear and break. Solution to that is to use a new/machined crank and a pair of ARC billet con rods with bearings, then you can rev more safely and have a stronger bottom end that will hold up to revs above 5000.

Re: Planning Engine Swap
Even though I haven't looked at it up close, the billet plate is clean and machined well, the cradle welds look solid and the tube bends are all uniform and smooth The coating even looks top notch I'll take more pictures this evening |

Re: Planning Engine Swap
VC said to use the keyway that came with the cvtech clutch (and not the Briggs keyway) and to use anti seize on the shaft and mounting bolt
The cvtech keyway is shorter and not as tall as the Briggs keyway. I had to use the cut off wheel and clearance the motors metal shroud, on both the starter side and oil filter side Unfortunately, the long supplied 3/8-24 bolt that came with the clutch is too short and won't even thread into the shaft Hopefully the hardware store sells one about 1" longer |

Re: Planning Engine Swap
Clutch bolt is 4" long
The inner distance to the threads on the shaft is 3-3/4" I hope to find a 5" long bolt |

Re: Planning Engine Swap
Stock engine and the cradle is all removed.......along with the fuel lines, fuel pump, grounding strap, air filter housing setup.
Pretty easy and straightforward overall Maybe 2 hours or so with me taking my time and cleaning up. I removed the generator before pulling the engine out, was much lighter than I thought it would be I'll post some pictures shortly |
