Default How to test the voltage of batteries??

I heard that after you charge your batteries that when using a meter they should be between 36-38 volts. I just went down and bought a new meter and they read 48. Is it mabe my charger is OVER charging them????

What charger is it you are using. If it's a old timer one then yes it could be over charging them. How many batteries does it have?

Also how many fill caps are on each battery. Should have 3 on each if 6 batteries then it is 36 volts. If you have 6 batteries with 4 caps then you have 48 volts. Are all batteries the same?

yes its the original charger, 6 batteries and 3 caps on each battery. Now the guy I bought it from had troubles with the charge and had them replace the diode. Mybe its better if I just get a new charger.??

What kind of charger is it? What does it look like?
The second cart I bought the guy didn't tell me he had bypassed the on /Off switch in it. My daughter unplugged it and went riding that afternoon. I came home early to find sparks flying out of the wall socket she had left the charger pluged into the wall. He had tied the 2 black wires together in the Power Wise Charger and had not told me.
Check the charger out!
If it looks like this.
