Re: Planning Engine Swap
I think I'll look for a stock exhaust manifold, especially used for well under $100.....compared to $300 for a header

Re: Planning Engine Swap
I need to get the engine installed first, before I decide on an exhaust manifold.
The 691501 and 805609 appear to be same, other than the 805609 having an expanded ended (likely for muffler fitment?) The 692061 has a significant drop down pipe after the cylinders |

Re: Planning Engine Swap
CVtech 06 clutch ordered.
Ouch that's almost more than I have invested in the Briggs 18hp engine |

Re: Planning Engine Swap
Decided to change the starter mounting bolts, after reading and watching videos how difficult it is to remove the starter with the stock hex bolts
The Allen head allows for a much easier installation and removal Also, there are differences in the two air filter base support brackets |

Re: Planning Engine Swap
4 post starter solenoid was also installed on the starter using a metal band clamp
I also decided to remove the spring hose clamps and install worm gear clamps for all the fuel lines New Briggs air filter will be installed but I don't see a need for the foam pre filter |

Re: Planning Engine Swap
You don't use worm gear clamps/ jubilee clips on small
low pressure fuel hose. You use spring hose clips or screw hose clips. Worm gear clamps will distort the hose, possibly creating leaks, and will make the hose almost impossible to remove in the future. I run 2 litre and 3 litre diesel engines at much higher pressures and use only proper spring or screw hose clips. Also the washable foam pre filter is designed to prevent the element filter from getting prematurely dirty and needing early costly replacement. Use it! Wash it occasionally and you will thank me later. |

Re: Planning Engine Swap
Yes I think pinch spring clamps are also better for small applications
I installed a spring clamp and had a leak at the carb connection The pinch clamps are color coded to sizes red = 1/4", yellow =5/16", green =3/8" I need to double check that I am using the red version |
